We help clients determine a plan of action that will bring them from a proposed concept or idea to actual implementation.

Case Studies

A state engineers’ office needed to formulate a state water plan. SWPM worked with staff and outside consultants to design a process and program for the review of the state water plan, including a public involvement program. In addition, SWPM provided liaison and technical input into population forecasts for the state, and facilitated at public meetings.

A state department of transportation needed to evaluate a main street through a growing community, addressing issues such as reconnecting neighborhoods that have been split; landscaping; public art; noise buffers; signage; bicycle lanes; and signal timing. SWPM provided facilitation of public meetings for the project.

Southwest Planning & Marketing was asked to prepare a Culture, Arts and Tourism plan for a city for the purpose of developing an inventory of cultural resources and an action plan for maximizing tourism. There were three phases of this project. Phase One involved defining stakeholder groups and an inventory of cultural resources. Phase Two was comprised of a public outreach effort to define community needs and test possible solutions, and included focus groups and public meetings. Phase Three pulled the information together into a plan.
